June 11- The Sabancı University’s Sakıp Sabancı Museum, located in the historical Atlı Köşk in İstanbul’s Emirgan district, is to open its doors to the public on Tuesday.

The museum will serve to display the rich collection of leading Turkish businessman Sakıp Sabancı. On display will be some 280 works of art, including precious examples from the Ottoman calligraphy and paintings from the 15th to 20th centuries.

The Ottoman calligraphy works have previously been on show at the famous international New York Metropolitan Museum and Paris’ Louvre Museum.

Sabancı, in private opening of the museum earlier this week, stressed the importance of private collections and museums, adding that while his family is saddened to leave the historical building that has served as their home for many years, they were happy to have accomplished their dream of opening a museum.
